Our Location
We are located 200 miles north of Minneapolis. Seventy miles from Duluth
There are many reasons to justify a trip to see us. We think we are in "God's Country" and we are on the way to the BWCAW and the Quetico through International Falls. Many customers buy their canoes over the telephone and we have them ready as they go by on their trip to the wilderness.
Secondly, we are a tourism area our self with our mining tours, great golf courses, Iron World, Wolf Center and Duluth all being close.
Visit our Contact Us page for directions to our store.
History of Spring Creek Outfitters
Spring Creek would like to take a little time to fill you in on a little history of how "We" became.
Like any family, we are a product of our history. Ted's Father, Silver Dick -(Ted, being the founder of Spring Creek) was a crusty ol' guy, even when he was young. He had a passion for the outdoors, and an obsession with a lake with great tasting walleyes and northerns the size of Moby Dick (or so it seemed). As we know, the canoes of yesterday, are not like the ones we have today that are sleek and light. The yokes were hard and punishing. The portages, if there were portages, were no stroll in the park. The paddles were grueling and the BWCA was just a hunk of land no one had gotten a hold of yet. Still, Silver Dick took his family deep into the wilderness, to this "secret" lake, in search of fish, wildlife and peacefulness.
So, Silver Dick began to create his own gear to make "getting there" a little easier. It's no coincidence that our company bears the name Spring Creek. You see, the first portage to our "secret" lake is a two miler. About half way the Spring Creek draw cuts across the portage resulting in a treacherous 150 foot drop and climb that challenges even the most determined canoeist. Our seat/yoke was developed for and tested on this arduous portage.
Spring Creek still means Family. We work together and canoe together. We are a family that believes in creating our own solutions. We each have our own strengths to bring to Spring Creek which results in this site and our catalog representing our accessories and most important, our family legacy. We think Silver Dick would be proud.
